The LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun Meets First-Year Cadets at the Military Academy
The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, General Joseph Aoun, met with first-year cadets at the Military Academy, in the presence of the academy commander and instructors. He addressed them with a speech congratulating them on their success in the entrance exam to the academy, a result of their effort and determination, and welcomed them to the institution of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty.
He said, "You have decided to enter the Military Academy out of belief and conviction, which places a great responsibility on you, especially in these difficult circumstances. The institution will remain by your side to support you with all its capabilities. Do not pay attention to rumors aimed at undermining the army, as it is one of the few institutions that still stands firm; it is the rock of Lebanon and one of the most important factors for its continuity. Giving your utmost effort, for your path at the Military Academy is challenging, but it is not impossible, and it is essential for building your future."
He added, "We are proud of you because you represent the future of the army and the nation. Remember that armies are built for times of hardship, and sacrifice is our fate, even unto martyrdom if duty calls us. Let your party be Lebanon and your community the military uniform. Lebanon protects its communities; it is not the communities that protect Lebanon. In three years, you will take an oath to fulfill your duty in defense of the country's flag and homeland, so remain loyal to that oath." He noted that three entities take oaths in the Lebanese state: the President, the judge, and the military, because their mission is sacred.
General Aoun considered that the cadets will be a source of strength for the military units deployed throughout Lebanon upon their graduation, and they will contribute to enhancing the professional performance that has earned the trust of the Lebanese people and friendly nations.
He concluded by congratulating the cadets on the occasion of the festive season and wishing them success until graduation.
