The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, General Joseph Aoun, inspected the 5th Intervention Regiment Command in Kfardebian, where he was briefed on the missions carried out in the context of developments along the southern border. He also met with officers and soldiers and offered his condolences for Sergeant Abdul Karim Al Muqdad, who was martyred when a military post belonging to the army in Adaisseh - South came under Israeli enemy shelling on 05/12/2023, in addition to the injuries of several soldiers. He considered the resilience of the regiment's members and other units deployed in the south in the face of current challenges important for the people of the region, commending their sacrifices and noting that their dedication, along with their comrades, in performing their duties reassured the Lebanese people during the holidays.
After that, General Aoun moved to the command of the Reserve Unit of the UNIFIL Commander in Deir Kifa, where he met with the French Minister of Defense, Sébastien Lecornu, who was visiting the unit. General Aoun praised the efforts of the unit's members and all UNIFIL personnel, recognizing their professionalism and sacrifices in carrying out their duties. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the army and UNIFIL within the framework of Resolution 1701, especially during the current exceptional circumstances.
