Sunday, 16 February 2025

The Lebanese Armed Forces Command – directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
In response to the information circulated through media regarding the Army's intervention during the protest on the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport on February 15, 2025, the Army Command confirms that prior coordination was made with the protest organizers to ensure adherence to peaceful expression of opinion and not to block the road leading to the airport. However, a number of protesters later proceeded to block the road and assault military personnel assigned to maintain security, as well as vandalize their vehicles, resulting in injuries to 23 soldiers, including 3 officers.
This compelled the units to intervene to prevent further assaults on their personnel and to reopen the road. The Army's intervention was in the implementation of a decision by the political authority aimed at preventing road closures and violations of public and private property, ensuring the continuity of public services, and safeguarding the safety and security of travelers, thus maintaining security and stability.
