LAF Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun visits units deployed in Tripoli
LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun visited the military units deployed in the city of Tripoli and its surroundings to observe the security situation after the recent events in the city.
He addressed the soldiers with a speech in which he praised their discipline, morality and courage in preventing disorder and clashes in the city, saying: "Some wanted to put us in a confrontation with our people in Tripoli, but with your wisdom you saved the city and its people."
He continued, "The economic situation weighs heavily on the Lebanese people and on the army as well. We feel the suffering of our people because we suffer like them, and perhaps more, given the many tasks that we have the honor to perform. This stage is delicate and difficult, and we will overcome it together thanks to your determination and faith in your homeland."
He addressed the people of the ancient city of Tripoli, Al-Fayha'a, saying: "We are part of you. We feel your suffering and your pain. We are not against you. You have the right to peacefully express your opinion and we protect you, but do not let the riotous and undisciplined individuals offend you or drag you into a confrontation with the army. We are not the cause of the economic crisis that you are experiencing, and we are also suffering from it.”
He concluded: "No one will drag us into any confrontation with our people, and in return we will not allow anyone to harm the security of the city or the security of any other Lebanese region. The army is the guarantee of stability and will remain on its oath to defend Lebanon's land and people."
