The LAF Commander visited the south Litani Sector and the 7th Infantry Brigade HQ
Prime Minister Hassan Diab and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Ms. Zeina Akar as well as LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun visited the South Litani Sector HQ in Tyr and the UNIFIL HQ in el-Naqoura.
General Aoun visited later during the day the 7th Infantry Brigade HQ – Martyr Francois el-Hajj barrack in Marjeyoun where he congratulated the troops on the holidays and praised the sacrifices they are making to preserve stability at the southern border in coordination with the UNIFIL to implement Security Council resolution 1701. On the other hand, General Aoun stressed the need to continue implementing prevention measures against the spread of COVID-19 after it was successfully controlled during the past stage.
General Aoun added that “the Army is part of this society and we fully understand its concerns and demands. In parallel, the Army Command realizes the difficult financial condition that the troops are living through and is investing all its capabilities to alleviate the burden and secure their right and the right of their families to live a decent life. Army units have made exceptional efforts since the outbreak of popular demands in 17 October 2019 to preserve civil peace against the acts of rioters and safeguarding the freedom of opinion and expression”.
General Aoun also confirmed that the current situation will not discourage the LAF from performing its primary mission in the fight against the Israeli enemy and the terrorist enemy while thwarting all attempts aimed at damaging our national unity. He considered that these tasks demand the highest level of preparedness, courage and discipline.
