Meeting of the Armed Forces Commander in Yarzeh with the commanders of security bureaus

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

A security meeting was held at the office of the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun in Yarzeh. The meeting was attended by the General Director of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, the General Director of State Security, Major General Tony Saliba and the General Director of the ISF Imad Othman. The meeting discussed the situation in the country, particularly in light of the security developments witnessed by the nation. The meeting parties issued a statement in which they confirmed their respect to the freedom of protest in public squares and at the sides of roads. They discussed the measures that would preserve the safety of protestors. The meeting parties reiterated their warning against targeting public and private properties as well as blocking roads, which limits the freedom of commute endorsed by International agreements.

The statement also called upon the citizens to be responsible in tackling the developments and to refrain from committing any act that would target stability, civil peace and coexistence. Moreover, the statement stressed the importance of committing to national unity and solidarity with the LAF and the remaining security institutions, as they are the guarantee for security and stability in the country.
