A number of citizens arrested, weapons and ammunition seized in their possession

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
The army units deployed since the morning took precautionary measures to keep pace with the commemoration of the port explosion, so they set up fixed checkpoints and patrols in order to prevent riots or clashes.
In this context, a citizen was arrested in the Zouk area in possession of a Pump Action weapon, pistol ammunition, sticks, gas masks and metal chains, and six citizens were arrested at the Awali checkpoint in Saida, in possession of military weapons, ammunition and military equipment.
The arrestees and the seized items were turned in to the competent judicial authorities.
