Inspection visit made by Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun General Joseph Aoun to the Air Force Headquarters in Aïn el-Rimmeneh
The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun visited the Air Force Headquarters in Aïn el-Rimmeneh where he toured its sections, received briefings of the activities and missions and held a meeting with the officers and troops to whom he gave the proper instructions. General Aoun hailed the efforts exerted by the Air Force to develop its capabilities and raise the level of its combat performance with the available means. He commended the effective role of the Air Force in providing support to the forces deployed on the ground through reconnaissance flights and destroying targets while he called on the officers and troops to be utterly ready to perform the duties that the coming stage may require.
As for the ongoing battle in Ersal, General Aoun confirmed that the Army units deployed at the eastern border are committed to target at any time the posts of terrorist organizations and the movement of the militants as well as their infiltration points with the Army’s heavy artillery the thing that gradually led to tighten the noose around these organizations to the maximum. He added that the Army is currently focusing on defending the citizens of Ersal, the border towns and the displaced camps against any infiltration attempts made by the terrorists. He noted that the Army is also providing medical support and food substances to the displaced in close coordination with the International Red Cross and the Lebanese Red Cross.
Concerning the latest arrests in the camps, the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun noted that 50 dangerous terrorists were among those arrested, some of whom are among the masterminds while others participated in abducting army troops and attacking the technical school of Ersal during the August 2014 attack. General Aoun confirmed that the Army is committed to abide by the standards of human rights and shall hamper any attempts made to transform the displaced camps into a safe haven for terrorists where they may secretly plan for terrorist acts inside the country.
