The second day of the visit of the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun to Cyprus

The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun concluded his official visit to Cyprus and returned last evening along with the accompanying delegation to Beirut.

General Aoun had started his second day in Cyprus with a tour along with his Cypriot counterpart General Elias Leontaris in the touristic Lidra street in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. General Aoun then headed to the surveillance tower overviewing the city and attended a briefing from an officer concerning the history of the region and the security situation.

Later on, General Aoun moved along with accompanying delegation to the naval base in Zygi where he was informed of the missions of the missions performed by the naval forces and attended a live fire maneuver performed navy seals, simulating a military act and how to deal with it. His last stop was at the JRCC in Larnaca that is assuming the responsibility of rescue and evacuation operations all over the country. It is considered the most important center in the Middle East for rescuing individuals who get into accidents on land, at sea and in air.

General Aoun also attended a detailed explanation of the role and missions of the center and expressed his interest in establishing a similar center in Lebanon while benefiting from the expertise in Cyprus.

Afterwards, General Aoun signed the golden register and commemorative shields were exchanged.
