The Army Commander in Chief meets with a group of American researchers of Lebanese origin in the USA
The Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun met at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, in the presence of the embassy staff headed by Chargé d'Affairs Wael Hashem, a group of American researchers of Lebanese origin from the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, the Carnegie Middle East Center and the American Support Group for Lebanon. The meeting focused on the situation of the Lebanese army at this delicate stage that Lebanon is going through, and ways to help and support it to. Discussion during the visit touched on ways to support the military institution.
In his speech, General Aoun stressed that the economic crisis that Lebanon suffers greatly affected the army, forcing its Command to take many exceptional measures to confront it, pointing out in return that the army continues to perform its tasks with determination and will to maintain security and stability and prevent slipping into strife.
The Army Commander commended the role played by the expatriate sons of the homeland who are making remarkable efforts to mobilize international support for their army.
For their part, the hosts commended the role played by the army in Lebanon, stressing the need to support it because it is the only institution that enjoys a local and international consensus.
