An army personnel was hit while trying to stop a van

The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 28/9/ 2023, during an attempt by an army patrol to stop a Hyundai van transporting Syrians who had sneaked into Lebanese territory in the Al Qobour Al Bid area on the northern border, the driver of the vehicle hit one of the patrol members, trying to run him over and flee the place despite the rest of the members firing warning shots in the air, forcing them to shoot at the vehicle's tires. This resulted in the driver being injured, losing control of the vehicle and colliding with an electric pole, leading to his death. He was taken to a local hospital.

 The investigation was initiated under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
