Arrest of a number of individuals preparing to migrate illegally by sea

The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On September 14, 2023, as part of the efforts to combat illegal migration by sea, and based on information available to the Intelligence Directorate, citizens (AA.A.) and (Q.AA.) were found to be involved in preparing for a smuggling operation to transport individuals by sea, using a boat at Al Abdeh Port in Tripoli. A patrol from the directorate raided the residence of the latter, and arrested 48 Syrians who were preparing to migrate illegally by sea. The mentioned boat was also seized.

The investigation was initiated with the arrestee under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
