Arrest of Two Citizens and 66 Syrians as Part of Security Measures Across Various Regions

The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

Within the framework of the security measures being carried out by the military institution in various regions, two army units supporting a patrol from the Directorate of Intelligence arrested 67 individuals as follows:

• Arrest of the citizens (Y.B.) and (M.M.), and the Syrian (S.H.) in the Dair Ammar - North region for leading three illegal buses used for smuggling Syrians.
• Arrest of 34 Syrians in the Dair Ammar - North region for illegally entering Lebanese territory.
• Raid on camps of Syrian displaced persons in the town of Arsal - Bekaa and arrest of 30 of them for illegally entering Lebanese territory.

A patrol from the Directorate of Intelligence arrested the Syrian (B.M.) in Matraba - Hermel for his affiliation with a drug trafficking gang led by the wanted individual (A.Z.), known as "Abu Salla". The detainee is wanted for illegally entering Lebanese territory and for participating in the shooting at an army patrol in the Hay Al Shrawneh on 3/6/2022, which led to the martyrdom of one of the soldiers.

Investigation was initiated with the detainees under the supervision of the competent judicial authority.
