Ceremony on the occasion of the Completion of Renovation Works at the “Oum El Nour” Rehabilitation Center for Women Recovering from Drug Addiction in Fatqa
As part of the cooperation program between the Lebanese Army’s Civil-Military Cooperation Directorate (CIMIC) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a ceremony was held to mark the completion of renovation works at the Oum El Nour Rehabilitation Center for Women Recovering from Drug Addiction in Fatqa. The project was carried out with support from the Dutch authorities and attended by the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lebanon, Frank Mollen, and the Director of the Civil-Military Cooperation Directorate, representing the Lebanese Army Commander-in-chief, General Rodolph Haykal. Representatives of national and international organizations, municipal council heads, religious figures, and a number of officers attended the event.
During the ceremony, Brigadier General Iyad Al Alam, Director of the Civil-Military Cooperation Directorate, delivered a speech in which he stated:
“Our gathering today, on the occasion of completing the ‘Rehabilitation Center for Women Recovering from Drug Addiction’ in Fatqa, reflects a set of noble principles that serve our homeland and society. First, it underscores the unification of efforts aimed at combating the scourge of drugs and shielding our youth and families from its devastating impact. Second, it reaffirms the Army Command’s ongoing commitment to stand with the Lebanese people—particularly in this dear region—and to implement various development projects that help improve quality of life amid the severe crisis gripping our country.”
He concluded by thanking the Dutch authorities and the Oum El Nour Association for their vital contribution to the success of the project.
For his part, Ambassador Mollen emphasized that the renovation of the center helps provide patients with an appropriate environment for treatment, and that the project reflects both confidence in the military institution and the strength of mutual cooperation with it.
