Denial of Reports Circulated by Certain News Sites Regarding Syrians Being Forced to Cross a River by the Lebanese Army While Attempting to Illegally Cross the Northern Lebanese-Syrian Border

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
Some news sites have circulated information alleging that Syrians were forced by the Lebanese Army to cross a river while attempting to illegally cross the northern Lebanese-Syrian border.
The Army Command clarifies that military units did not intervene in the mentioned area, as no information was received regarding any attempted illegal crossing there. These units did not force any individuals to return via the river. The Army is currently conducting search operations for persons who were reported to have drowned, in coordination with the Syrian authorities.
The Command also notes that the Army facilitates the voluntary return of Syrians to Syrian territory through legal border crossings, in a manner that ensures their safety. It is further verified, in coordination with the competent Syrian authorities, that they reach the Syrian side safely.
