The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 22/1/2024, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate managed to free the Lebanese citizen (L.A.) and her Syrian husband (M.H.) at the Lebanese-Syrian border after being kidnapped on 16/1/2024 by an organized gang involved in human trafficking.

The gang lured them from Sabtiye-Mount Lebanon to the border deceiving them into believing that they would be traveling overseas through illegal routes. They then threatened to kill them and demanded a ransom in exchange for their release.
