Injury of a Military Personnel and Death of a Wanted Citizen and another Individual during an Arrest Operation in Berkail-Akkar

The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 19/03/2025, during an arrest operation in Berkail-Akkar, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate attempted to arrest the citizen (W.S.), who was wanted for opening fire and for his involvement in the incident that occurred in the mentioned town on 18/03/2025. He opened fire on the patrol, resulting in moderate injuries to one of the military personnel. In response, the patrol returned fire, resulting in the death of the wanted individual and another person accompanying him. A firearm and a hand grenade were found in his possession.

The seized items were handed over, and the investigation was initiated under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
