LAF Patrol Comes Under Fire While Pursuing a Weapons and Drug Smuggler

The LAF Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On 26/6/2025, while a LAF unit, supported by a patrol from the Directorate of Intelligence, was pursuing the citizen (M.N.) as he was smuggling a quantity of drugs, weapons, and military ammunition using a pickup truck near the Lebanese-Syrian border in Sharbin – Hermel, the suspect opened fire at the patrol members. They returned fire, resulting in the vehicle catching fire and the ammunition inside exploding, which also caused a blaze in the area. Civil Defense units worked to extinguish the fire.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the wanted individual.
