Lebanese Army Command Responds to False Israeli Allegations Regarding Its Operations in Southern Lebanon
The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On 20 October 2026, the Israeli occupation forces published false allegations on their official account on the X platform regarding the Lebanese Army’s operations in the area south of the Litani River, casting doubt on its ability to carry out its assigned missions.
In this regard, Army Command clarifies that military units began work in December 2025 to address a military facility in Kafra - Bint Jbeil District. They continued carrying out their mission until 16 March 2026, when they halted work inside the facility and evacuated the area at the request of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (the Mechanism), following Israeli threats to bomb the site.
The Army Command notes that it had informed the Mechanism that the mission had not yet been completed and that a quantity of military equipment and ammunition remained inside the facility, which was subsequently subjected to an Israeli airstrike.
Despite the Army’s repeated requests to secure the resumption of work so that the facility could be fully cleared, these efforts were met with Israeli refusal. Military units eventually resumed their mission on 15 August 2026, in coordination with the Mechanism, and continued working until the task was fully completed and the facility was closed on 16 October 2026.
As for the video showing a truck that was targeted by Israel, it dates back to 3 July 2026 and was filmed in Siddiqine - Tyre District that is, approximately one week after the framework agreement was signed.
Army Command confirms that all these events and procedures are documented by the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee, refuting the Israeli allegations and demonstrating the reality of the efforts undertaken by the military institution in southern Lebanon.
It also stresses that the recent repeated disinformation campaigns and the dissemination of falsehoods by the Israeli occupation form part of attempts to undermine the Army’s credibility both domestically and internationally, coinciding with the ongoing negotiations.
Army Command reiterates its full commitment to fulfilling its duties and obligations and carrying out the missions assigned to it, while the Israeli occupation continues its attacks and violations of the existing understandings.
