The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief’s visit to two wounded soldiers and to the command of the Fourth Intervention Regiment
The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief, General Joseph Aoun, visited the military hospital to check on the health of the two soldiers injured during the raid on a drug-dealing cell that committed murders in Al Joura neighborhood - Burj Al Barajne in Dahye Janoubiye on 12/1/2023, and wished them a speedy recovery. He then inspected the command of the Fourth Intervention Regiment at Henry Chehab Barracks, where he was briefed about the operation, and met with the regiment personnel and the Dahye Security Office of the Intelligence Directorate, as well as the other soldiers wounded during the operation. He praised their level of training, discipline and professionalism during the delicate and difficult operation that required close coordination between the regiment personnel and the security office and was carried out in a complex and densely populated area and succeeded in uprooting one of the most dangerous drug trafficking and promotion cells following an exhaustive follow-up, without causing any injuries among innocent civilians.
The Army Commander in Chief then addressed the soldiers and said: "I sensed from your wounded comrades and yourself the ferocity and faith in the military institution and in Lebanon, the determination to carry out missions bravely and professionally despite the difficulties, and the willingness to make sacrifices with conviction. You are the pride of your leadership and your country, and its essential backbone and the hope for its salvation. Without you, it would not remain steadfast, and our history bears witness to what has befallen our country in the absence of the army. I bow before your sacrifice and courage."
He added, "All army units are battling drugs across Lebanese territories, as their danger outweighs that of terrorism. It is our duty to protect our people in Dahye and other areas from this poison that may enter every home and family, and to ensure their safety and keep this evil scourge away from them and their children. We are determined and committed to wage a war against drugs, no matter how long it takes. In this war, you are backed by people of all sects and affiliations, so rise to their hopes.”
In the end, General Aoun congratulated the soldiers for their continuous success in performing their duty despite the current crisis, stressing that the army command stands by them in these difficult times, and calling on them to be patient to overcome this phase.
