The Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief attends the Inauguration Ceremony of Mohammad Farhat Barracks in Kfardounine
A ceremony was held in the town of Kfardounine – Bint Jbeil to inaugurate the Mohammad Farhat Barracks, under the patronage and in the presence of the Army Commander-in-Chief General Rodolph Haykal and his spouse. The event was also attended by the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major General Diodato Abagnara, the Governor of Nabatieh, Dr. Howaida Turk, the family of the martyr, and a number of officers.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Farhat was martyred on October 23, 2024, after being targeted by the Israeli enemy while carrying out a mission to evacuate the wounded in the outskirts of the town of Yater – Bint Jbeil.
General Haykal praised the martyr’s integrity and courage, noting that he was a source of security and reassurance for his comrades and soldiers.
He stated: “Our martyrs live on in our hearts despite the pain of their loss. I pledge to you that the Army will safeguard every inch of our homeland’s soil and protect its citizens. This is our vow before our martyrs.”
He also expressed his appreciation to the martyr’s family, highlighting the fundamental role of national upbringing that begins within the family and contributes to safeguarding the nation.
For her part, the martyr’s sister, Mrs. Randa Farhat, affirmed that the military institution remains the cornerstone of security for all Lebanese, and that the blood of the martyrs will yield strength and unity for the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque of the barracks and the memorial dedicated to the martyr.
