The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief inspected the Military Healthcare
The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun inspected the Military Healthcare in Badaro, where he toured its departments and was briefed on the work in progress, in presence of the member of the Military Council, Major General P. S. C. Elias Shamiya, the head of the Military Healthcare, its officers and medical staff.
General Aoun commended the efforts exerted by the military health, despite the challenges and stressful economic conditions, and addressed the soldiers: "You are the first line of defense for all of us. You face dangers for more than four hundred thousand citizens, those in the active-duty and their families, as well as the retirees and their families." He added, "Health safety has become the biggest concern for the Lebanese people, as the deteriorating economic situation has affected the health sector in a significant and dangerous way. Nevertheless, army patients still enjoy comprehensive health coverage, whether in the military hospital or private hospitals contracted with the army. The Military Healthcare is undoubtedly suffering from this crisis, but its impact remains limited compared to what the civilian health sector suffers from.”
General Aoun confirmed that medical care is currently at the top of the Army Command priorities, as most of the aid provided by donors who believe in the necessity of supporting and assisting the army is transferred to it, pointing out that the Command also communicates with countries who are friends of Lebanon to request medicines and medical supplies.
He continued, "The Military Healthcare has recently made remarkable progress in terms of developing and expanding its healthcare services, as well as rehabilitating its buildings, thanks to will, good management and transparency. It seeks to ensure the continuity of providing healthcare services to all patients in a manner that preserves their dignity, and it follows up all health and disease cases and addresses any problem they face because the safety of our soldiers and their families is intrusted to us, and their endurance in the face of this crisis is a priority for us."
General Aoun concluded his visit with a tour inside the military hospital, where he donated blood.
