Meetings of the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L) to Discuss Support Measures for the Army

The Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L) held meetings in Beirut on December 16 and 17, 2025, as part of its regular sessions aimed at supporting the Army and advancing initiatives to improve the welfare of military personnel. The meetings commenced on December 16 at the Army Command Headquarters in Yarzeh, attended by Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning, Brigadier General Georges Sakr, representing the interim Army Commander, Major General Hassan Audi; the Chair of the Committee, Italian Major General Enrico Fontana; the UN Special Representative in Lebanon; representatives from the seventeen supporting countries; as well as delegates from the European Union and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

During the meetings, Brigadier General Georges Sakr thanked the participating countries and organizations for their continued support of the Army during the current challenging period. The participants, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the capabilities of the military institution, given its essential role in safeguarding Lebanon’s security and stability and extending the authority of the Lebanese state across all its territories. They also expressed their support for the implementation of Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities agreement.
