A memorial service held to honor Mrs. Hoda Ibrahim Makhlouta, the mother of the LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun
On 6/1/2024, the Patriarchal Vicar, Bishop Antoine Awkar, representing His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Al Rahi, presided over the funeral mass for Mrs. Hoda Ibrahim Makhlouta, mother of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun, at the Church of Saint Therese - Fiyadieh, assisted by the Patron of the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Tyre, Bishop Charbel Abdallah, the pastor of the Chaldean Church in Lebanon, Bishop Michel Kassarji, the general president of the Antonine Maronite Order, Father Abbot Joseph Bou Raad, and a group of priests.
The memorial service was attended by MP Michel Moussa, representing the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, the Minister of Communications, Johnny Al Qurm, representing the Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, the Minister of National Defense, Maurice Slim, the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Al Mawlawi, and the Secretary-General of the Future Movement, Ahmed Hariri, at the head of a delegation representing former Prime Minister Saad Eddine Hariri, former Deputy Prime Minister Representative Ghassan Hasbani at the head of a delegation representing the Lebanese Forces Party, and MP Salim Al Sayegh at the head of a delegation representing the Lebanese Kataeb Party, as well as the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Othman, at the head of a delegation, the Director General of Public Security, Brigadier General Elias Al Baysari, at the head of a delegation, the Director General of State Security, Major General Tony Saliba, at the head of a delegation, and the Acting Director General of Customs, Raymond Al Khoury, at the head of a delegation, in addition to a number of ministers, representatives, ambassadors and public figures.
The burial then took place in Al Sayde Church in Aichiyeh village, where Bishop Abdullah presided over the burial ritual, assisted by the parish priest. Her body was then laid to rest in the town’s cemetery.
