Outcome of the Security Measures Implemented by the Military Institution across Various Lebanese Regions during New Year’s Day

The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

Within the framework of the exceptional security measures carried out by the military institution across various regions to pursue individuals disrupting security during New Year’s Day, Army units, each supported by a patrol from the Directorate of Intelligence, implemented extensive security measures. These included raids, foot and mobile patrols, and temporary checkpoints, resulting in the arrest of 19 citizens and two Palestinians, as follows:

  • Raiding the residences of wanted individuals in the southern suburbs of Beirut and arresting 7 citizens for the crime of gunfire, and seizing a quantity of weapons and military ammunition, in addition to a quantity of Captagon pills and hashish.
  • Raiding the residences of wanted individuals in the North and arresting 9 citizens and two Palestinians for the crime of gunfire, and seizing a quantity of weapons and military ammunition.
  • Arresting two citizens in Baalbek and Douris – Baalbek for the crime of possessing weapons and military ammunition.
  • Arresting one citizen in the area of Bourj Hammoud – Metn for the crime of gunfire, and seizing weapons and military ammunition in his possession.

The seized items were handed over, and investigations with the arrestees were initiated under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
