Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited Beirut Air Base in the presence of the Lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun, offering condolences for Captain Pilot Joseph Hanna and First Lieutenant Pilot Richard Saab, who were martyred following the crash of a military helicopter in the Hammana area.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts exerted by the military institution to safeguard Lebanon's security and stability amidst the economic and social challenges it faces. He commended the professionalism and dedication of the soldiers in various missions.
He considered the military personnel as the guardians of national sovereignty, emphasizing that the army serves as a model for Lebanese youth that transcends sectarian and regional affiliations, representing the national fabric in all its diversity, and ensuring the nation's security.
He concluded by saying, "What you embody through your unity is the model we desire for Lebanon."
On another note, General Aoun thanked President Mikati for his condolences and his consistent support for the military institution.
He stated, "We feel sad for the loss of our martyred officers, but our soldiers are armed with their strong determination, belief in Lebanon, their mission, and their institution. They will continue to carry out their duties. Nothing will weaken their resolve, and they will preserve the institution that, in turn, will safeguard the nation."
