Release of 8 Palestinians after being kidnapped by a criminal gang

The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On the night of 09-10/09/2024, a criminal gang lured 8 Palestinians residing in the Bourj Al Barajneh camp to Bekaa under the pretext of facilitating their illegal migration to Europe, and then proceeded to kidnap them, demanding a ransom for their release. In response, the Intelligence Directorate carried out a security surveillance and monitoring operation, along with raid operations, which resulted in the liberation of the hostages at the Lebanese-Syrian border in Hermel and the arrest of (AA.AA.), a member of the gang, who had transported the hostages from Beirut to Bekaa.

The investigation was initiated with the arrestee under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang.
