SIGNING OF AN ACADEMIC COOPERATION PROTOCOL BETWEEN THE LEBANESE ARMY AND THE LEBANESE UNIVERSITY
Two academic cooperation protocols between the Army Command and the Lebanese University were signed at the Ministry of National Defense, Yarzeh. The first enables officer cadets at the Military Academy to obtain a bachelor degree in one of the following specializations: political geography, political science, and management informatics, in addition to their basic specialization that qualifies them to obtain a degree in military sciences, and the second establishes an administrativ and academic master’s degree in military science at the Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and General Staff and is linked to the unit of the Faculty of Law and Political and Administrative Sciences at the Lebanese University.
They were signed on behalf of the Army Command by the Lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun, and on behalf of the Lebanese University its president Professor Bassam Badran, in the presence of a number of Lebanese University deans and army officers.
General Aoun spoke about the importance of education, especially in the army, and said: "It is true that the army possesses modest equipment compared to the rest of the world's armies, but in return it has a stronger and better weapon, which is the weapon of science and knowledge that our officers and soldiers of different ranks hold."
He added: “Thanks to this weapon, officers and soldiers have become more involved in military courses held abroad, as an inevitable result of the educational level they have reached, pointing to the increase in the percentage of military personnel who are pursuing their education, and this is what the Command supports and facilitates with all possible ways”.
For his part, Professor Badran gave a speech in which he praised the performance of the military institution despite the economic conditions the country is going through, pointing out that the army's work has resulted in security, and this security is the basis for everything, especially in the education process. He stressed the importance of cooperation between the two national institutions, the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese University, hoping for more cooperation in order to raise the status of science in Lebanon.
