Visit of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jounieh Naval Base
The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, visited the Naval School at Jounieh Naval Base, where he was received by the Army Commander-in-Chief, General Rodolph Haykal.
During the visit, a welcoming ceremony was held for President Steinmeier in the presence of ministers from the German side, the German Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Kurt Stoeckl-Stillfried, and the Army Commander-in-Chief, in addition to officers from the Army Command and the Commander and officers of the Naval Forces.
In his speech, General Haykal stated that the German President’s visit reflects the depth of the relationship between the two countries. He affirmed that cooperation with the German authorities contributes to enhancing the capabilities of the military institution to protect the land and maritime borders. He also expressed his appreciation for the continued support provided to the Army, which strengthens its ability to carry out various missions in a manner that preserves national sovereignty and ensures regional security and stability, particularly in light of the security challenges in the region.
The visit concluded with an inspection tour that included the school building and its training facilities at the naval base.
