التنوع في الوحدة

يعتبر التنوع إحدى أهم علل وجود لبنان وركائز استمراره وعناصر هويته، ومنه استمد اللبنانيون طباعهم وصفاتهم. والتنوع صفة ملازمة لوطننا، فيوصف بها، إلى جانب صفات أخرى أهمها الموقع الفريد كصلة وصل أبدية بين الدول والشعوب، وبقعة جميلة تتزاحم فيها الزرقة والخضرة.
لقد  قصد الكثيرون لبنان من قريب وبعيد، إعجابًا بتنوعه وانفتاحه الثقافي، وسعيًا إلى التمتع بحريته في الحياة والتفكير والتعبير. وبالتالي، نجد أنّ في لبنان جهات فكرية وأطياف اجتماعية وسياسية ومذهبية مختلفة، إلّا أنّ هذا الاختلاط لم يكن يومًا بحد ذاته سببًا في التفرق والتشرذم، إنّما أوجد هويّة خاصة جامعة توحّد اللبنانيين. وفي هذا السياق، وجب أن يكون في لبنان جيش واحد، عقيدته واحدة لا تتعارض مع باقي المعتقدات الوطنية في النقاط الأساسية التي تؤكّد اتحاد الوطن بالشعب والأرض، وضرورة الحفاظ على ترابه، وحماية تنوعه وحريته، وصون أمن مواطنيه، وتحديد الصديق والعدو، أي العدوّ الإسرائيلي والإرهاب، ونبذ الخلافات وعدم الارتهان للغير مهما كانت الظروف.
هذه المؤسسة رسّخت عقيدتها الوطنية في نفوس المواطنين على مدى تاريخ غير قصير، كانت ذروته في العقدين الأخيرين خلال مواجهات عديدة وتحديات كبرى.
في ذلك كلّه، كان جميع الأفرقاء إخوة للجيش، وكان جميع اللبنانيين أهله، يحتضنهم ويحتضنونه، ويمدّونه بخيرة أبنائهم وبناتهم. إذّا، عقيدة الجيش تظلل كل المعتقدات، وترتكز على الإرادة الوطنية الجامعة، وتحفظ التعايش المشترك وتستمر باستمراره. إنّه التنوع في الوحدة، وهو ميزة ثمينة لا يجوز التفريط بها، بل يتعيّن أن نتسلّح بها في وجه الأخطار.

Diversity in unity
Diversity is one of the main causes of Lebanon’s existence, a pillar of its continuity and a defining factor of its identity from which the Lebanese drew their traits and features. Diversity is therefore an ever-inherent trait that marked our country among many other traits, mainly its unique location as an eternal junction point between countries and peoples in addition to being a stunning landscape where the sea and green areas collide.
Many are those who visited Lebanon from neighboring areas to faraway lands in admiration of its cultural diversity and openness seeking to benefit from the freedom of speech and intellectual diversity. These factors turned Lebanon into a land where political, sectarian, societal sides are joined together. This mixture has never been in itself a reason for schism and division since it formed a distinct unified identity that unites the Lebanese people. In this context, the existence of one sole army in Lebanon was essential with a sole doctrine that does not contradict with the remaining national beliefs that confirm the country’s unity with the people. This doctrine stresses the need to safeguard the land, protect Lebanon’s diversity and freedom, bolster security and define foes and friends, while recognizing that our foes are the Israeli enemy and terror groups in addition to dismissing differences and abstaining from becoming dependent on other sides regardless of the circumstances.
This institution has engraved its patriotic doctrine in the souls of the Lebanese throughout a considerably long history and mainly during the last two decades thanks to many confrontations while facing gigantic challenges.
Through it all, all the Lebanese parties were as brothers to their comrades in the Army and thus the people and the Army embraced each other and the people have offered the elite of their sons and daughters to join the army ranks. These facts lead us to the truth that the Army’s doctrine embraces all other beliefs and is based on a unified national will that safeguards coexistence and persists thanks to this coexistence. The secret ingredient lies then in the idea of diversity in unity which is a precious quality that we cannot neglect but should rather use as a weapon in the face of dangers.
